Fixing Britain with Louise Casey
Tune into BBC Radio 4 to hear Baroness Louise Casey speak with Women’s Aid CEO Farah Nazeer and domestic abuse survivor Natalie Curtis in a special episode on domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.
In this episode, Baroness Casey looks at the issue of men's violence against women and children. Speaking to people from across the political spectrum who have worked hard to improve the effectiveness and sensitivity of the criminal justice system's response to these crimes, she tries to get to the bottom of why they have not been more effective. And she speaks to those working on preventing the problem in the first place, by addressing attitudes and behaviours which can, if left unaddressed, end up in violence.

16 Days of Action 2023
To mark this year's 16 DAYS of ACTION campaign, Border Women's Aid launched a charity partnership with Galashiels business ‘The Wee Souk’. Owner, Kimberley Davidson is supporting women accessing our emergency accommodation and donating a fouta (multi-purpose throw/towel) to refuge for every one sold. She wants every woman arriving at refuge to receive one as a comforting and practical item upon reaching a safe space.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, inspiring woman/young woman to join our team as a Domestic Abuse Support Worker. If you’re looking for a rewarding career and want to work within an inspirational, all-women team that really does make a difference to the lives of women and young people, this might be the job for you:
35 hours per week with occasional evening work and an additional 2 hours on a weekend rota.
Funding is expected until 31 March 2025 so the post will be on a fixed term contract.
Salary: £23,464.90 pro-rata/£12.64 per hour

Test of National Emergency Alerts System
The Scottish Government is taking part in a trial of a new UK government Emergency Alert System. On Sunday, 23rd April at 3pm there will be a national test of the UK emergency alerts service.
Emergency alerts will be used to let the public know about emergency situations, such as severe weather warnings. They will work like a radio broadcast. In an emergency, every compatible mobile phone or tablet in a range of a mast will receive the alert.
It is very important to be aware that the Emergency Alerts will sound even on devices set to silent.
For women living with domestic abuse having access to a hidden, secret phone can be a lifeline. This alert may reveal a secondary phone used for safety purposes.
